Port Qasim
An Act of parliament was passed on 29 June 1973 to establish Poet Qasim. It is located in karachi’s phitti Creek of the Indus delta region. In 1980, the port was opened with a dedicated Iron Ore Coal Berth to handle bulk imports of raw materials for Pakistan Steel Mill. There are currently 18 berths in the port, 15 of which are private sector. The port has an annual handling capacity for 89 million tons. The port handles all commodities, including minerals oils, edible oil and coal, as well as rice, wheat, cement, fertlizers, general cargo, containers, and LNG. It has state-of the-art terminals. It is Pakistan’s only LNG Port and energy hub.
